Chlorinated paraffin

What are Chlorinated Paraffins?

The complex group of man-made compounds known as chlorinated paraffin (CPW) is primarily used to coolant lubricants for metal workings. Secondary plasticizers and flame retardants are used in plastics, rubbers, paints, adhesives and sealants. The product volume, which is more than one million tonnes annually, has been continuously manufactured since the 1930s.

Chlorinated paraffin is a complex mixture of polychlorinated alkanes.

CPW can have a chlorination level of between 30 and 70%. The CPW can be subdivided by their carbon chain length into short-chain CPs C10-13, medium-chain CPs, C14-17, long-chain CPs >C18 and Very long-chain CPs >C21.

Chlorinated Paraffin are chemicals made by the chlorination of liquid n-paraffin and paraffin wax. Chlorinated paraffin is used in the largest applications, such as plasticizers and  retardants in flexible PVC. They are also used in cosmetics, sealants.

Instead of advanced, it should be excess chlorine content grades in a variety of polymer systems and rubbers.

Chlorinated paraffin is also used extensively in the production of metalworking lubricants. They have been long recognized as one of the most useful complements that can be applied in many engineering areas.

Product
Since the 1930s, chlorinated paraffin is  synthesized by reacting to chlorine gas with unbranched fragments of paraffin at temperatures between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius.

Marketable products are classified as substances with unknown or variable compositions. Complex fusions of chlorinated alkanes that contain thousands of homologues or isomers are called CPW. They are not easily separated by standard logical methods.

USES
Chlorinated paraffin (CPW), which are mainly used for a primary purpose, are to be used as secondary plasticizers have their main purpose. Chlorinated Paraffin (CPW), when exposed to high temperatures, releases a significant amount of HCI. HCI is a component of the conformational process in its condensed phase.

Benefits of using Chlorinated Paraffin

  • A wide variety of operations can be performed with retardant, low-cost results.
Higher flexibility at lower temperatures than traditional plasticizers.
  • Superior resistance to chemicals and water.
  • Density regulation to ensure the stability of PVC plastisol during rotational and dip moulding.
  • Cleaning of the essence corridor required lubricant. It can remove grease, canvas and other pollutants.
